Across the board

After almost 12 hours of mahjong I emerged a tired and poorer man. I lost nine dollars in that period, which pretty much cancels out my modest earnings of previous matches, and I was just thinking, why is it always gain gain gain then lose alot? Why cannot gain gain gain then gain some more?

isnt it life cycle - up n down, some gain some lose? this is a zero sum...

Life ISNT a zero sum game. It could be some other kind of game but never a zero-sum one.
