Hmm

I know a literature student who takes some maths modules, because she says there's a calming effect in doing maths, in finding answers. The reason why I'm putting this here is completely unknown to me.

I find a calming effect in doing math and in finding answers as well, though unfortunately I am not good at it.

One nice feature of mathematical truths is that they are necessary and not contigent truths - they are eternally enduring, and by solving mathematical questions I feel as if I have somehow magically gained access (even if only a fleeting glimpse) to the core of the universe out there that is so much grander and more important than myself.
